FLUTTER-BYE

Flutter Bye

Following the successful production of Punchline by Andrew Kay, Steve was inspired to write his own script to bring more drama to the Brighton scene with FLUTTER-BYE. This new play, saw BBC’s Allison Ferns take on her first ever one-woman play, which followed the character of Mary, who guided the audience through a fast-paced, emotional journey as she looked back at the promising singing career she sacrificed to care for her mother who lived with dementia. The gala performance took place at Ironworks Studios in Brighton, and supported the work of the charity Our Dementia Choir. Steve’s inaugural piece of theatre writing was skilfully directed by Jordan Langford with the assistance of Jack Pallister and was a sell out. The audience also enjoyed the after party with sounds of the 80’s and an environmentally friendly digital programme was produced.

A souvenir brochure was produced for the premier performance in Brighton which includes cast quotes, unseen photographs and those all important reviews.

I AM SUPER - KING OF CREATURES

I Am Super

As an Executive Producer, Steve became involved with the short film I AM SUPER, because he believed in the vision of Rupert Charmak’s (writer and director) project and can see the universe he is trying to create, with Brighton as an eclectic backdrop and a place he loves to see on the big screen. Steve contributed with seed funding for the short film and helped create the sample graphic novel for I AM SUPER. Looking to create a full graphic novel, based on the feature film, Rupert and Steve teamed up to create a concept. The feature film, KING OF CREATURES is about a man called Justin who has found himself married, with a young child, living in a tiny one-bed studio in Brighton and is working a dead-end job he hates, he is lost. He doesn’t know how to communicate with his family and his wife Jessica, is deeply worried about him. Jessica has noticed the last couple of years that he has become more and more distant. Justin was the King of Creatures in another life. He is 300 years old, but in earth years looks like he’s in his 30s. He once owned the most beautiful pair of wings, which when he flexed, they reflected across the moon for all the universe to see. Justin was banished to earth for something he did wrong over 100 years ago by his forefathers.

PUNCHLINE

Steve jumped on board very early with Punchline along with his production company Liquorice Dragon Productions. Steve immediately became interested in the production when he heard about the concept and how the play was being written for his talented friend and renowned actor, Brian Capron. Steve believes in the vision that Andrew Kay (writer) had in bringing his writing to stage writing and through his passion for Brighton and the creative industry, Steve immediately became involved and brought on board Rupert Charmak to director the play. Steve’s inaugural theatre production was a sell out with additional performances being added alongside an environmentally friendly digital programme.
